What is EMO Hannover?

EMO Hannover is the world’s largest tradeshow for the metalworking industry. The event covers the entire range of metalworking technologies and is widely recognised as the most important international exhibition for production technology specialists.

Metalworking companies from around the globe use EMO Hannover as a launch pad for their new products making the event a must-attend for decision makers looking to research the latest developments and innovations in the industry.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Intelligence in Production’ aiming to provide attendees with insight into sustainable production systems and to address pressing issues such as how to respond to increasing global cost pressures and how to fulfil environmental responsibilities during production.

Visitors to the show are predominantly management with the decision making authority to make on the spot decision on where their organisations will make their capital investments. Visitors come to the event from every conceivable sector of heavy industrial production including automotive, aerospace, tool and die, defence and shipbuilding.

Once again, the event is held at the Deutsche Messe Exhibition Centre in Hannover – the largest conference centre in the world – which offers unique features such as grassy park-like areas and chill-out zones, providing a professional yet laid back experience for the visitors to the exhibition.

The Powerstir Friction Stir Welding Machine

The Powerstir Friction Stir Welding Machine offers manufacturers the ability to joint difficult to weld materials such as aluminium alloys paying special attention to structural rigidity and minimising distortion to achieve and excellent surface finish. Friction stir welding has been widely adopted by industries that rely on the integrity and strength of their welds such as Aerospace, Marine and in the manufacture of train and carriage panels.

A custom-built Powerstir machine was developed 2012 for China’s high speed rail network  which is capable of welding 30 metre rail carriage panels used in the manufacture of the railway car bodies. PTG had to develop a 30m x 4m gantry for the machine demonstrating their engineering capabilities and their ability to provide tailored solutions to each customer’s requirements.
