History of Jones & Shipman

1899 Partnership formed between Frank Shipman & Frederick Pollard as general engineers.

1934 A range of Motor Driven Precision Grinding Machines exhibited at the Machine Tool Exhibition at London Olympia

1941 First 540 produced

1952 Opened first office in North America

1966 Exhibited an NC machine tool at the worlds first Numerical Controlled Machine Tool Show at London Olympia.

1970 Formation of wholly owned Subsidiary company, Jones & Shipman Incorporated, in USA.

1972 Formation of Subsidiary company in France, Jones & Shipman S.A.R.L.

1984 New range of CNC grinding machines exhibited at the MACH 84 Machine Tool Exhibition, N.E.C. Birmingham.

1991 Acquisition of BSG (Brown & Sharpe) grinding machine range.

1994 1300X Microprocessor controlled touch panel cylindrical grinders launched at METCUT94.

1997 Supromat cylindrical CNC and Dominator profile & creepfeed CNC grinders launched. Edgetek Machine Corp acquired.

2006 Precision Technologies Group acquires the business. Today we trade under the name Jones & Shipman Precision Limited and are a company within The Precision Technologies Group.
